Financial Planning Tips

I came across the following links not too long ago and I wanted to share them with you. The last few years have been a financial roller coaster, but that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve your financial goals no matter what stage of life your in. Humor me on this first link, but some students at the Wharton School for Business at the University of Pennsylvania developed a life expectancy calculator. Use this to ballpark your most finite resource, time.

Ok, now, check out the Social Security Administration’s retirement benefits calculator to see how much your social security dollars will add to your monthly retirement budget goal. Then check out the ballpark calculator to see how much more you should be setting aside now so that when you retire you can add that savings into your SS benefits.

Lastly, once you have your ballbark savings number add that to your SS retirement benefits and you should have a pretty good idea as to a budget you’ll have for retirement. Now, use this last calculator to find out how long your money will last and hopefully it’s near your first calculation!

As the saying goes, “The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry” but those with a plan have a direction toward their goals, and they may shift from time to time but life is about the journey, right?
